NAOS Les Laboratoires: Research and production
Based in Aix-en-Provence, France since 1988, NAOS’s independent and fully owned laboratory has developed a dynamic ecosystem with advanced international Research partners and Institutes specialized in skin biology. Our expertise in formulation and regulations ensures that BIODERMA, Institut Esthederm, and Etat Pur products respect your skin and its long-term health.

Our Research ecosystem
We collaborate with the French National Institute for Health and Medical Research (INSERM), the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), the Mediterranean Institute of Life Sciences (MedILS), and contract research organizations to test our ideas. Our colleagues’ varied expertise strengthens our own about skin biology and its ecosystem.
125 tests from raw material to final product
Our 20,000 espace sqm site in Southern France produces almost all products for BIODERMA, Institut Esthederm, and Etat Pur. All our formulas must meet the demanding safety and quality levels that we set. Our internal standards lab tests all our raw materials for origin and purity – guaranteeing maximum tolerance for you when you apply them to your skin.
Over 70 ecobiology patents
As our research progresses, we continue to develop innovative technologies that go to the source of a skin problem. In average, we register five new patents per year.
University hospitals and independent testing providers evaluate new products at each step, from in vitro to clinical testing, assessing their effectiveness and tolerance.
Excellence in ecobiological skincare
Rather than overtreating your skin, we give it only what it needs. For this reason, of the 33,000 permitted ingredients on the INCI list, we reject 98% and keep only those that already exist naturally in the skin, that mimic components in the skin, that provide or support a biological process.
