ECOBIOLOGY

Ecobiology and Microbiome

The skin’s microbiome is a rich and varied population of flora and fauna that are part of the skin’s ecosystem. A healthy microbiome acts as a living shield, maintaining skin’s own health and balance.

A protected microbiome, a healthy skin

The microbiome is made up of billions of micro-organisms, an incredible diversity of bacteria, fungi, viruses, and mites, that all live on the surface of your skin. Each area of your body has its own specific composition. A diverse and balanced microbiome is essential to having healthy and beautiful skin.

Respecting the skin's ecosystem by preserving the diversity of the microbiome

Our skin has all the resources that our skin microbiome needs to thrive: habitat, protection and nutrient resources.

Our skin microbiome plays a protective role for our skin: it strengthens the skin barrier and teaches our immune system to adapt its response to external stress factors and to defend itself.

So it’s not surprising that an imbalance in the ecosystem leads to skin problems!

At NAOS, our ecobiological approach leads us to consider the microbiome as a fundamental part of the skin’s ecosystem and we pay particular attention to it.

NAOS’s ecobiological approach respects and preserves the microbiome’s diversity, for beautiful and healthy skin.

Our research teams have identified a method to assess the impact of these products on the skin microbiome. To begin, we decided to submit our hero products to this evaluation, representing our different ecobiological formulations. These products can be therefore qualified as “microbiome-friendly”.

This is a global approach that allows us to continue the same evaluation program with our other skincare products.
